The Bent Pyramid was the first attempt at building a smooth sided pyramid, was built out of limestone, which was quarried locally. The casing blocks are very stable and very difficult to remove because they slope inwards. The base of the pyramid is 188.6 m and it is 105m high. The Bent Pyramid has two entrances, the first one we find in the middle of the northern side about 12m above the ground , the second one is on the western side just above the ground.

The Red Pyramid is the largest of the pyramids located at the Dahshur necropolis in Cairo. it is also the third largest Egyptian pyramid, after those of Khufu and Khafra at Giza. The Red Pyramid was not always red.it is called the "red oyramid" because of the colour it's stone reflect at sunset. It used to be cased with white Tura limestone, but only a few of these stones now remain at the pyramid's base, at the corner. During the Middle Ages much of the white Tura limestone was taken for buildings in Cairo, revealing the red limestone beneath. The Red Pyramid is 105m high and was built at the angle of 43 degrees, the entrance is quite high up from the ground you have to climb 125 steps before getting access to a 63m slanting corridor.
